Van Wie Financial Hour: Time to Annuitize

Steve and Adam Van Wie are a father and son combo that provides top notch “FEE ONLY” financial advice for clients across the country. They have become personal friends of mine over the years and I have helped their clients with annuity strategies when appropriate and suitable.

They have a great radio show “The Van Wie Financial Hour” in the Jacksonville, Florida market on WBOB, FM 101.1 and AM 600. I’ve had the privilege to jump on a few times in the past few years and share with their listeners the brutal facts about annuities.

Recently on November 7, 2020, I was a guest and covered how annuities can work for long term care and/or confinement care. We also discussed how annuities are faring in this current low interest rate environment. Because Steve and Adam are “fee only” planners, they do not sell any product. In my opinion, if you are looking for someone to manage your non-annuity assets, you want them to be this way and not fee-based planners. There is a big difference. Fee-based advisors charge a fee but can also double-dip and sell products like annuities and life insurance. Fee-only advisors are sitting on the same side of the table as you. They only do better if you do better. Makes total sense if you think about it.
