067 Bradley Birkenfeld: Whistleblower Still Exposing Corruption and Creating a Better System

IN THIS EPISODE, THE ANNUITY MAN AND BRADLEY BIRKENFELD DISCUSS:
- Corruption in the government and our justice system
- The problem with bank secrecy and facts about the relationship between our government and bankers
- Getting incarcerated for doing the right thing
- Tax evasion in wealthy groups and how corruption happens in places
- The future of cryptocurrency and bankers
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem - you’re either one of those.
- The system is so ingrained with corruption that it has already become impossible to change anything.
- Don’t stand for corruption when you see it - although it might get you burned even if you’re doing the right thing.
- The empowerment of the individual through cryptocurrency might not last as governments and bankers will find a way to get in the game and devalue the current ones.
"The system that we base ourselves on, what we believe in, is rotten to the core. I say that candidly and I can give facts to that. Support whistleblowers, don’t believe everything the government tells you and we need more transparency in our lives." — Bradley Birkenfeld

0:16

0:18
annuities with no sales pitches or high
0:21
pressure nonsense
0:22
just the brutal and factual annuity
0:25
truth which is all you need to hear
0:27
let's have some fun with annuities and
0:29
let's have that fun
0:30
start right now
0:33
[Music]
0:40
welcome to fun with annuities i'm your
0:42
host stan the annuity man america's
0:43
annuity agent license in all
0:45
50 states and i am so happy that you
0:48
joined us this week
0:49
and if you hear a little bit of an echo
0:51
in the background it's the the reason is
0:53
i'm in florida and our guest today is in
0:57
malta and if you don't know where malte
0:58
is that is in between sicily and the
1:01
north african coast
1:03
there's a reason that he's in in malta
1:06
his name is bradley birkenfeld and let
1:08
me give you a little bit of background
1:09
on bradley
1:11
um as an international private banker
1:14
he exposed how the union bank of
1:17
switzerland known as ubs
1:19
by the way should work for ubs as well
1:21
they're the world's largest bank
1:23
and he exposed how they helped
1:26
wealthy americans commit billions and
1:28
billions of dollars
1:30
of tax fraud and his his revelations and
1:33
man they were bombshell once
1:35
pretty much cracked the code of what was
1:38
believed to be an impenetrable fortress
1:40
like i mean you just couldn't get
1:42
through the swiss banks
1:43
but he proved that offshore financial
1:45
institutions were systematically aiding
1:47
clients
1:48
in tax evasion corruption terrorist
1:50
activities etc
1:52
his case triggered monumental
1:55
changes in the banking laws and the
1:57
federal tax code
1:59
and international tax treaties as well
2:02
in 2005
2:04
um despite a thriving career at places
2:06
like credit swiss
2:08
barclays bank and ubs um he couldn't
2:11
take it anymore and he said you know
2:13
what i've got to do something about this
2:15
he went to ubs and he said hey um
2:18
you know we need to clean this up um and
2:21
they they rejected him
2:22
and he then turned to the u.s
2:24
authorities um
2:25
unfortunately and he'll tell the story
2:27
he spent 30 months in jail
2:30
but was vindicated and he was vindicated
2:32
in a big way
2:33
not only just because he did the right
2:35
thing but monetarily
2:37
he got the largest irs whistleblower
2:40
reward of all time
2:42
which was i think it's still a record
2:44
104 million dollars for turning
2:47
in and exposing this tax fraud and his
2:50
work has helped
2:52
the u.s treasury to recover to date over
2:55
25 billion dollars in back taxes
2:58
and it set off a domino effect of
3:01
international investigations and
3:03
offshore banking
3:04
and those type of crimes he's now
3:05
retired he's a philanthropist he lives
3:07
in malta
3:08
um he calls it the pirates island once
3:11
again i apologize for a little bit of
3:12
the echo but he's in malta and i'm in
3:14
florida so you know
3:15
technology works until it doesn't but
3:17
hang in there with me this
3:18
is important um we're also going to be
3:21
talking about his book
3:22
lucifer's banker and you can reach back
3:25
and read about that at lucifer's
3:27
banker.com lucifer's is plural lucifer's
3:30
banker.com
3:32
with that being said welcome to fun with
3:34
annuities bradley birkenfeld
3:37
it's a pleasure to be here stan and
3:39
welcome from uh
3:40
sunny malta as you already pointed out
3:43
to your audience
3:44
we're south of sicily north of libya so
3:47
we're right in the middle of the med
3:49
and uh it's a real pleasure to be here
3:51
thank you so much stan
3:52
perf perfect audio on your side so i'm
3:55
not going to talk as much which is
3:56
probably my
3:57
the people on all the podcast platforms
3:59
and the the youtube uh
4:01
channel fun with the new age like yay um
4:04
so let's jump into this
4:05
uh quickly and we're gonna spend as much
4:07
time as you as you will allow us because
4:09
you're the most fascinating guest
4:11
um that i can imagine us having on
4:14
obviously you're originally
4:16
uh you're a boston bruins fan i say
4:18
obviously because i've done so much
4:19
research on you
4:20
give us some background about you
4:22
growing up in massachusetts
4:24
and uh how you got the financial
4:25
services business let's let's
4:27
establish that foundation sure um
4:30
when i grew up i grew up in south of
4:32
boston in a little rural community on
4:34
the water
4:35
had two older brothers and it went to
4:38
some
4:39
a nice private school and met some very
4:41
good friends and
4:43
had academia and athletics so i really
4:45
have a good upbringing with two loving
4:47
parents
4:48
um so it was it was an environment that
4:52
was conducive to you know that
4:53
neighborhood feeling of the 80s you know
4:56
back then when things really worked
4:57
people played outside and got along and
4:59
so forth
5:01
then when i graduated high school i went
5:03
to a private military school up in
5:04
vermont where rotc was founded norwich
5:06
university
5:07
the oldest private military school in
5:08
the country and i did my rotc there but
5:11
didn't go in
5:12
and spent the semester overseas in
5:14
london because i was an econ major
5:17
so that was quite interesting but it was
5:18
right after the 1987 stock market crash
5:21
so
5:21
people were getting fired who had career
5:23
jobs and i just wanted to work there for
5:25
the summer
5:26
so i had to come back to boston and
5:27
continue working
5:29
at a bank where i was working summers in
5:31
college called state street
5:32
global advisors or state street bank the
5:35
investment arm of the bank
5:37
and i started there uh i did two summers
5:40
of internships but then started full
5:42
time in 1988 when i graduated college
5:44
and i worked as a currency trader there
5:46
so i was talking to countries around the
5:48
world trading billions of dollars and
5:50
all the notes prior to the euro so this
5:53
was pre-euro this is 1988-89
5:56
and it was an interesting time because
5:57
you saw so many things uh developing
5:59
quite quickly
6:00
and uh the fall of romania which tesco
6:03
and
6:04
all of these different things the
6:06
european uh economic um
6:08
um union was sort of trying to come to
6:10
its uh fruition
6:12
so it was a very interesting time for me
6:14
as a young man trading currencies from
6:16
institutional pension plans so after i
6:18
did that i started
6:20
seeing some illegal things even at the
6:21
bank which i talked about in the book
6:23
and i just didn't want to be a part of
6:25
it i was a young guy working hard and i
6:27
thought jesus is not
6:28
what i signed up for so they pretty much
6:31
put me into this little probation kind
6:33
of thing
6:34
and then ultimately fired me because i
6:35
wouldn't play ball so i said fine
6:37
you know you want to play that game we
6:38
can play the same game so i went to the
6:40
annual meeting in the bank and exposed
6:42
them
6:43
and then went to the fbi and exposed
6:45
them but the fbi was
6:46
as corrupt as the bank because that was
6:48
the same fbi
6:49
as the whitey bulger cover-up in this in
6:52
the fbi field office in boston
6:54
oh my goodness so so you actually ubs
6:57
wasn't the first
6:58
whistleblower you were whistleblowing
7:01
you had more you had morals from the
7:02
start is what i'm hearing
7:04
that's correct and it's documented i
7:06
went to the fbi i talked to them
7:08
they uh the district attorney who was
7:11
robert mueller
7:12
didn't pursue the case you can't write
7:15
this stuff
7:16
really it's really something else and so
7:18
you had the fbi with the whitey bulger
7:20
nonsense you had robert mueller who
7:22
wouldn't investigate it i had sworn
7:24
affidavits
7:25
i had testimony i met with the fbi
7:27
probably six times
7:29
it's it's a farce it's a total farce
7:31
these guys are useless beyond useless
7:34
they say they're enforcing crime and
7:35
criminals and terrorists
7:38
nothing can be further from the truth
7:40
and i can tell you i lived it i
7:42
saw it i saw it in boston i saw it in
7:44
washington so
7:45
these guys are really bad news they're
7:47
you're either part of the problem or
7:48
part of the solution
7:50
well they're not part of the solution so
7:52
by default they have a problem
7:53
so often getting off topic just a second
7:56
because you threw me with the robert
7:57
mueller thing
7:59
when you saw him get appointed
8:02
what was without being political because
8:04
you know we have listeners on both sides
8:05
of the aisle
8:06
what was your thought i just said to
8:09
myself
8:10
how do you keep perpetuating the same
8:12
pathetic problems by
8:14
putting these people in positions of
8:16
power
8:17
james comey sat on the board of hsbc
8:20
that's the same hsbc that did not find
8:23
the drug cartel for laundering billions
8:25
of dollars
8:26
how is this possible but this is the fix
8:29
stan you know you you put a person of
8:31
power wow pick up the phone and call
8:33
their friends and fix
8:34
the problem and this is where we're
8:36
going to get into lucifer's banker
8:38
uncensored
8:38
because you're going to begin to see
8:40
what you've read the problem the
8:42
inherent
8:43
ingrained problem with government
8:46
there's the revolving door
8:48
there's the protect your backside and
8:49
all your buddies whether they're
8:50
democrats or republicans it doesn't
8:52
matter i'll call a spade a spade
8:54
and i think the problem we have here is
8:57
this has been going on for so long
9:00
it's almost impossible to change it
9:02
because these people are
9:03
really in there for too long a period
9:06
and they're friends so there's tears
9:08
of these corrupt individuals civil
9:10
servants it's the is
9:11
is the unbelievably um
9:15
accelerated level of the good old boys
9:17
network
9:19
precisely correct now ask yourself this
9:21
question
9:22
in the financial crisis eric holder
9:25
didn't prosecute anyone
9:27
not one bank i mean this is just a
9:30
countrywide citibank goldman sachs
9:33
credit suisse
9:34
barclays morgan stanley nieman brothers
9:37
any of them
9:37
nobody but you did put one banker in
9:41
jail
9:41
the whistleblower who brought you the
9:43
biggest tax scandal in u.s history
9:45
in the world so you you go your boy you
9:49
you caught me i was there going to you
9:51
and giving you this information
9:52
and then you turned it on me so so you
9:55
left state
9:56
street and then you went to a firm i
9:58
believe it's called union charter
10:00
correct no i actually went to
10:01
switzerland to get my master's degree
10:03
okay and then while i was in uh getting
10:06
my master's in switzerland i was
10:08
actually
10:08
recruited or actually i went for an
10:10
interview with credit streets private
10:11
banking
10:12
and i was hired okay and yeah the head
10:15
of the private bank really liked me saw
10:17
my skill set he understood that i was
10:19
dynamic and
10:20
outgoing uh and i wanted to fix things i
10:22
want to make things work
10:23
and i was going to be his right-hand man
10:25
well i talked about him in my book dr
10:28
caligari very nice gentleman and he then
10:31
got transferred
10:32
to asia and he said come with me to
10:33
singapore and i didn't want to go
10:35
because i wanted to stay in switzerland
10:37
i figured it was too much of a jump
10:38
i had just finished my masters and this
10:41
was a good opportunity so i stayed
10:43
he actually got blown out in the asian
10:46
currency crisis a couple of years later
10:48
in 98
10:49
and i stayed in switzerland and then i
10:52
moved
10:53
to from credit suisse to barclays
10:54
project back in geneva
10:56
okay and then i worked there for about
10:58
four years and did a lot of work within
11:00
north america and in the uk and then i
11:03
was head hunted up to uh
11:05
ubs in geneva in switzerland and i
11:08
became the
11:08
head of business development for all of
11:10
north america
11:12
interesting and then so you're in
11:14
switzerland you're doing
11:16
you work for ubs and and disclaimer i
11:19
used to be a retail
11:20
uh broker and advisor at ubs a long long
11:22
time ago and
11:23
and was there when they were doing the
11:25
swiss annuities and all that so
11:27
you know bradley is certainly certainly
11:29
familiar with what was going on
11:30
so you're at ubs and
11:34
yeah you know obviously reading your
11:36
book and looking at the pictures in the
11:37
middle of the book things were going
11:38
well for you obviously financially
11:40
personally it was just it was it was
11:42
really really good
11:45
yeah it was it was go ahead
11:48
it was a fantastic opportunity because
11:50
as a foreigner
11:51
you know i needed to work permit by the
11:53
time five years passed which was
11:55
at barclays i got something called a c
11:57
permit from a b permit in essence you
11:59
were swiss but you couldn't vote or you
12:00
couldn't go in the military two things i
12:02
could care less about
12:03
so um i was essentially entrenched there
12:06
i had worked for three major banks
12:08
i was a director at ubs i managed around
12:11
450 million dollars
12:13
i've traveled the world had great
12:15
clients um always made the money worked
12:17
go out of my way not just to sell the
12:19
ubs product as my bosses wanted me to do
12:22
i always confronted them as you know is
12:25
sell what the client wants not what the
12:27
bank wants and this was the biggest um
12:29
grind if you will so i i did a lot of
12:32
good things for my clients and
12:33
you know some were difficult some are
12:34
very easy you know how the business is
12:37
and sure
12:37
people with a lot of money who are doing
12:39
it offshore of course are
12:40
a special breed of course but we had
12:44
we had such a great situation but i
12:47
cared a lot about
12:48
several people and this is what people
12:50
have to understand i cared about my
12:52
colleagues
12:52
i cared about the clients and i cared
12:54
about the shareholders of the bank
12:56
because what the bank was essentially
12:58
doing was lying to all of them
13:00
and that's really where the problem came
13:02
and i said wait a minute now
13:04
i mean it's good to make money you can
13:05
do what you want offshore banking is
13:06
legal in switzerland that's fine
13:08
but when you're telling us to leave
13:10
switzerland to go market aggressively
13:12
to the brokers at payne weber the former
13:14
ubs for sure
13:18
it was just we weren't licensed to do
13:20
this but yet they were so hungry to get
13:23
more money in
13:23
net new money and raise the revenue and
13:25
all this kind of stuff you know the
13:27
story
13:27
yes and i just said this guys this is
13:29
not a good business model
13:31
this is not something that we signed up
13:32
for i mean if people come on open
13:34
accounts and switzerland great
13:35
and you had legacy accounts and they
13:37
were generating revenue and all that
13:38
good stuff
13:39
we don't sign people's tax returns
13:41
that's their business so
13:43
this was sort of a you know a catch-22
13:45
here and that's where i finally said
13:47
when a three-page document was presented
13:49
to me
13:50
from our intranet or internal computer
13:52
system
13:53
i said to my colleague where did you get
13:54
this and that's where i realized they
13:56
were setting this up for a fall because
13:58
they'd say well
13:59
if you don't read the memo and you have
14:00
a problem that's your fault there's the
14:02
memo
14:03
and i thought i'm gonna i'm gonna
14:04
checkmate you and say no i'm not
14:06
i'm gonna sign up for this i want to
14:08
know why this has been put in our system
14:10
why we weren't trained on it and why we
14:12
weren't told about it
14:14
what did that document say what was the
14:16
what was the key tell our listeners that
14:19
because it sounds like this was the fork
14:20
in the road for you
14:22
it was it was definitely the fork in the
14:23
road and what happened was
14:26
this document first and foremost i mean
14:28
i don't look on the internet i mean
14:30
there's thousands of pages of compliance
14:32
and
14:32
documents and whatever so my colleague
14:34
brought it to me so that was the first
14:36
shock like hey wait a minute
14:37
i'm a director of the bank i manage
14:39
people manage a lot of money
14:41
and you're not telling me about this so
14:44
i just find my
14:45
colleague finds it my mistake and shows
14:46
it to me then
14:48
there was no training on the document
14:50
generally you you train
14:51
your bankers like hey we've got a new
14:52
policy or we've got a
14:54
memo or whatever so those two things
14:57
initially were the big red light that
14:59
said wait a minute there's something
15:00
wrong here
15:01
so i backed up and i said uh oh so i
15:03
took it went to my boss i said what the
15:05
hell is this
15:06
they said oh don't make a big don't make
15:07
a big deal you're putting these kids at
15:09
risk
15:10
because you guys are greedy i said no
15:12
and this is [ __ ] i threw it at him i
15:14
walked out the door
15:15
i was furious i'll never forget that day
15:18
and
15:19
i went back to my desk and i made two
15:20
copies i put in my briefcase and took it
15:22
home and i thought
15:23
this is the turning point this is where
15:25
bank secrecy is over because
15:27
they can't continue playing this game
15:29
where you do the business but you're
15:30
taking
15:31
such a legal risk and you're not paid to
15:33
take that risk
15:34
something's gonna happen someone's gonna
15:36
get caught and the whole thing will just
15:37
explode
15:37
so in essence what they were doing and
15:40
this is
15:41
you know big banks and big brokerages
15:43
have the big buildings for a reason
15:45
kind of like life insurance companies
15:47
what they were doing was saying
15:49
sell our stuff do what we tell you but
15:51
you absorb all and shoulder all risk
15:53
isn't am i hearing that right
15:55
that is correct in the three page
15:57
documents in the book people can read it
15:59
it's called the cross a country border
16:01
paper which
16:02
now the irs and the doj and the fbi and
16:05
all these wonderful folks refer to
16:06
cross-border transactions well that was
16:08
thanks to moi
16:10
i was the one who had to educate these
16:12
clowns and and the question is where's
16:14
the doj been for the last 50 years
16:17
this is the problem the us government is
16:20
aiding and abetting tax evasion and
16:22
they're a party
16:24
to criminal conduct you got joe biden in
16:26
geneva today
16:27
why would you even give them the time of
16:29
day when a hundred swiss banks signed
16:32
agreements with the u.s department of
16:33
justice
16:34
to stop the business and pay big
16:36
multi-million dollar fines
16:38
why would you give them any any
16:39
attention whatsoever to this country
16:41
when they're still holding back some
16:43
information why
16:46
just to interject again the book is
16:47
called lucifer's
16:49
banker and you can go to
16:51
lucifersbanker.com you can buy this on
16:53
amazon which is where i purchased my
16:54
copy
16:55
um it is you can't put it down
16:58
and as i was joking with bradley before
17:01
i mean
17:02
when is this going to be a movie and
17:03
he's like well we're working on it and
17:05
he actually
17:06
um you can tell people about this
17:07
bradley about the movie thought and
17:10
and where you're headed with the book
17:11
because the book is a is a
17:13
virtual movie i'm telling you it's it's
17:16
i had a
17:17
i had a ghost writer to be honest he
17:19
helped me you know assemble it and
17:20
you know how books are it's not what you
17:22
put in it it's what you don't put in it
17:24
as well
17:25
it's a balancing act so the book
17:27
actually has come out
17:28
in such a way that uh we added some more
17:31
information about france and canada and
17:33
the uk greece and it just shows the
17:36
ingrained corruption once again that
17:38
i've exposed which
17:39
nobody wants to talk about governments
17:41
are really afraid to
17:42
talk to me because it's it's such a hot
17:44
potato it's a nuclear bomb
17:46
if you will because this is adversely
17:49
affecting
17:49
not just the banks the lawyers the
17:51
accountants the trustees
17:53
but the politicians because in my case
17:57
hillary clinton as secretary of state
17:59
got involved in an
18:00
international criminal investigation why
18:03
why not treasury why not fbi
18:06
because her donors had offshore money
18:10
now out of the 19 000 accounts that your
18:12
audience is going to hear about we had
18:14
19 000 americans
18:16
with 20 billion dollars in assets now
18:18
that was
18:19
one bank of 130 banks in switzerland
18:22
in one country so think about that for a
18:25
moment
18:26
so this and these are and america's a
18:29
hard country to manage
18:30
offshore because it's hard to get money
18:32
in and out and so forth but they're
18:33
quite sophisticated okay
18:35
so out of the 19 000 accounts in our
18:37
universe where we were making around 200
18:39
million dollars a year in profit pure
18:42
profit
18:43
the hillary only demanded 4 700 account
18:47
names
18:47
why not all 19 000 that's a 75
18:51
failure rate so the first is why is she
18:54
involved in an international criminal
18:55
investigation
18:56
the second is why didn't she get all the
18:58
names the third
19:00
my big boss testified at the u.s senate
19:02
and he pled the fifth
19:04
but he had a non-prosecution agreement
19:06
so he committed a felony
19:08
and the doj allowed it and then go back
19:10
to switzerland to free men
19:12
so so you do the right thing
19:16
and you go to jail how's that what's the
19:18
only one to go to jail
19:19
yeah how's that work again and tell us a
19:21
little bit of the details about that
19:25
again my my read on the us government
19:28
and it's a very sad story to be honest
19:30
with you is the us government is very
19:32
corrupt
19:33
um the alliances they've had with
19:35
switzerland and this is very important
19:37
for your audience to understand
19:38
there's an article on my on on my
19:41
website
19:42
back from 2004 when i was working at the
19:44
bank and people said well why would you
19:45
put an article from 2004
19:47
this is critical to understand the
19:50
federal reserve
19:51
fined ubs 100 million dollars
19:55
back in 2004 because they were sending
19:57
currencies
19:59
to three countries that were not allowed
20:01
to get monies they were blocked of the
20:03
u.s
20:04
cuba libya and iran
20:08
okay 2004. we're going back now
20:11
17 years ago so nobody went to jail
20:15
nobody lost their job and the bank just
20:17
wrote a check for 100 million to the fed
20:19
now not 95.7 million
20:22
not 110 million 100 million sounds too
20:25
sexy
20:26
there's the other problem who
20:28
represented the u.s
20:29
interest in cuba libya and iran in 2004.
20:33
switzerland so if you indict ubs you're
20:37
inducting the swiss government
20:40
and that didn't happen so now you begin
20:43
to realize
20:45
that's why joe biden is sitting in
20:46
geneva today and talking to putin
20:48
really so you guys got these backdoor
20:51
deals with switzerland
20:52
cheating guys like you and i and your
20:54
audience where you pay your taxes
20:56
but that these guys can get away with
20:57
this nonsense
20:59
that's a fact it's not it's not my
21:01
opinion it's a fact that articles the
21:03
new york times 2004 it's on my website
21:06
you can read it and switzerland was in
21:08
bed with the us
21:10
why did barack obama said 1.3 billion
21:13
dollars in cash from geneva to tehran on
21:15
a private chat
21:16
why geneva does he have a bank account
21:20
in geneva
21:21
does the fed have a bank account in
21:22
geneva uh-huh
21:25
so so when you're in prison for 30
21:27
months and i think that's the most
21:29
horrific i can't believe
21:30
that happened uh because you were doing
21:32
the right thing
21:34
um you're sitting in there and thinking
21:36
like i've got to write this book
21:38
and and i mean what were you thinking in
21:40
there because obviously that
21:41
you never thought that would happen you
21:43
were doing the right thing you were
21:44
taking the high road and someone ran you
21:46
off the road
21:47
literally and figuratively what's going
21:49
through your mind as you're sitting
21:51
in there for for i think it was 30
21:53
months right
21:54
it was two and a half years you're
21:55
correct and it wasn't a real jail it was
21:58
called as in my book i called it uh
22:00
it was called the camp called the
22:01
campaign sure because it was it was
22:03
quite a it was actually a joke because
22:05
the taxpayers paid for this nonsense
22:07
and the people in there had the most
22:09
ridiculous crimes i mean i
22:10
i saw a guy that gave a three-piece
22:12
sucrose politician he got six months in
22:13
jail i mean
22:15
what this is not justice this is this is
22:18
a business
22:19
and and so it's building prisons and
22:20
this and that and uniforms and lawn
22:22
mowers
22:23
snow blowers and they just spend all
22:24
this money on these prison systems
22:26
when in fact most of these people at a
22:28
camp this is the lowest level you can be
22:30
in which i was in
22:31
so there was no prison cell there was no
22:32
fence i mean some guys ran through the
22:34
woods
22:35
and would break the rules but you know
22:37
you had a lot of freedom but you
22:39
you were incarcerated but it obviously
22:41
motivated you to
22:42
to tell more right this is precisely the
22:46
extent
22:46
and what people have to realize and i'm
22:48
sure your audience knows people who
22:50
unfortunately have been incarcerated and
22:52
most of them wrong
22:54
wrongfully and what happened was was i
22:56
went on my way to help a lot of these
22:58
guys and do appeals
22:59
and then do all these things within the
23:02
the justice system and then i said i'm
23:04
going to write this book
23:06
but what was fascinating was when i
23:08
started my whistleblower in 2005 and
23:10
quit my job i wasn't fired i quit
23:13
ubs i was being paid about one and a
23:15
half million dollars a year i was the
23:16
highest paid banker in switzerland
23:18
because i negotiated a bonus contract to
23:22
anyways so when people say oh he did all
23:25
this for the money
23:26
that's a lie because if you look at the
23:28
timeline i quit
23:29
ups in 2005 october the law wasn't
23:32
passing till december 2006. so a year
23:36
and a half later the law was passed so
23:38
there's no way i could have known what
23:40
was going to be coming in the future for
23:42
legislation
23:43
that's the first thing and it's
23:44
important because people always say oh
23:45
you did it for the money no i didn't
23:47
think the law wasn't there and i didn't
23:48
even know about the law secondly
23:50
when i was in jail uh my attorneys came
23:53
to me with like a six months left and
23:54
told me that they were going to pay me
23:56
i fired my first attorneys and hired the
23:59
man who actually wrote the law in the
24:00
senate finance committee dean zerby
24:02
great attorney and still my attorney
24:04
today so what they've done is
24:06
he actually wrote the law so judge if
24:09
you have a question ask my attorney he's
24:10
the guy who offered the law
24:12
and what happened was the irs
24:15
hated me doj hated me because i made
24:17
them look like the morons they are
24:20
and the irs whistleblowing office which
24:22
was created i was the first guy
24:24
in the door gave him the biggest case in
24:26
the history of the world
24:28
so they said we're gonna pay this guy
24:30
and it didn't matter the doj thought by
24:33
indicting me i wouldn't get paid well
24:36
the law got changed and unfortunately
24:38
for them
24:38
they realized that that didn't work i
24:40
did get paid and it made them look even
24:42
more stupid
24:43
because one well that's your job to
24:46
uncover this country where have you been
24:48
right do anything second it takes a
24:50
whistleblower to walk in the door and
24:52
put to put the
24:52
smell under your nose and say this is
24:54
what's going on and they still didn't
24:56
get it and they screwed up the case so
24:59
it's it's it was a mishmash from all
25:01
these departments and agencies
25:03
treasury doj state department white
25:06
house
25:07
tim geithner was involved mr turbo tim i
25:10
mean i'm not a joke
25:12
these names keep surfacing right and
25:15
this is the problem so you got hillary
25:17
clinton
25:17
and tim geithner and eric holder all
25:20
these cons
25:20
and barack obama barack obama was
25:23
playing golf with the chairman of you
25:25
yesterday i got sentenced
25:28
well my mother's vineyard you can check
25:30
it it's the articles on my website
25:33
i mean it's frightening even worse
25:36
the u.s senate i went to the doj said we
25:38
have to give us
25:39
all these names i said i can't i need a
25:41
subpoena otherwise i go to jail in
25:43
switzerland where i'm from
25:44
and they said we're not giving it to you
25:46
i said you're not getting the names so i
25:48
said [ __ ] you i'm going over the senate
25:50
oh we always got the fist fight the doj
25:52
it was incredible i mean these guys are
25:53
real childs
25:55
childish so i had my attorneys
25:58
take me to the senate the senate loved
26:00
me it said here's a subpoena i said
26:02
here are the names i testified for 10
26:04
hours
26:05
so that committee i went to carl levin
26:08
the u.s permanent subcommittee
26:10
on the investigations had hearings but
26:12
they would never
26:13
call me in live because they knew
26:16
i would embarrass all of them because
26:17
they screwed up the case
26:19
but they said oh well we arrested this
26:21
guy
26:22
you arrested me because i kicked you and
26:24
gave me information
26:25
but you let all my bosses go i mean it's
26:28
ridiculous
26:29
it that's it's crazy and i read an
26:31
article the other day just about
26:33
there's a there's a big stink about
26:35
really rich people not paying taxes
26:37
again is this still happening bradley
26:40
what's going on right now i mean is has
26:43
anything changed it has in switzerland
26:46
they have been destroyed
26:47
decimated the compliance has been
26:49
improved
26:50
profits are down considerably because
26:52
they can't sell secrecy anymore those
26:54
numbered accounts are over
26:55
okay so a hundred swiss banks have come
26:58
in and paid fines to the us government i
26:59
mean think about that i
27:01
i caused a hundred banks to change their
27:03
policies
27:04
for the good second paid fines penalties
27:07
and interest
27:08
and the money from the clients have all
27:11
come back from swiss banks to american
27:13
banks been invested
27:15
and taxed through perpetuity sure i've
27:18
brought back probably 200 billion
27:20
to the u.s government and transforming
27:23
the trillion dollar industry at the same
27:24
time i've helped foreign governments
27:25
like france and germany
27:27
and i testified in the french trial
27:28
recently against ubs
27:30
and that's gonna the verdict will be out
27:32
in september on that probably about 3
27:34
billion euro
27:36
so you begin to realize this is a
27:37
worldwide problem
27:39
the problem is is the fed the european
27:42
central bank
27:42
all these idiots have not got the
27:45
testicular fortitude to come forward and
27:47
say no
27:48
we're gonna put ceos in jail and we're
27:50
gonna find you five times with the
27:52
normal finest and if you don't like it
27:53
we'll take your bank charger it's that
27:56
simple
27:56
instead these guys play politics oh geez
27:59
i might get a job later with your firm
28:01
like comey went to hsbc when hillary
28:05
clinton did this deal with the swiss
28:07
and it's these are facts now you can
28:09
check them on my website
28:10
the swiss government gave 600 000
28:14
to the clinton foundation bill clinton
28:17
got a 1.4 million dollar speaking fee
28:21
from ubs this is we're talking a few
28:23
months right after the settlement
28:25
now wait a minute isn't that pay for
28:27
play
28:28
why did you get the names why didn't you
28:30
find them properly why didn't you indict
28:32
anyone else
28:33
but yeah oh you got the whistleblower
28:34
that's great i was the only banker to go
28:36
to jail
28:37
in the financial crisis wow
28:40
i've got a question in my head and i
28:42
guarantee you my viewers and listeners
28:43
are thinking the exact
28:45
same thing do you fear for your safety
28:48
your life
28:49
no you do i have a lot of
28:52
i have a lot of mechanisms in place and
28:55
if i have to
28:56
quite frankly if i had to shoot someone
28:57
i'd shoot somebody i have no problem
28:59
with that i just know that
29:00
you know with the amount of money that
29:02
you what you did hurt
29:04
people financially when you hurt people
29:06
financially especially the big firms
29:08
you know they're they're their own
29:09
country well this is it
29:12
and i i went to military school i'm
29:13
pretty well savvy about what goes on
29:16
um i keep a low profile pretty much i do
29:18
travel a lot but
29:20
the story has actually even the fbi went
29:23
to my attorneys and said can you tell
29:24
your client to stop talking bad about us
29:26
he said you put him in jail
29:27
what do you expect him to do you know
29:29
send you flowers
29:30
so what i'm doing in essence is just
29:33
exposing the truth
29:35
you guys sometimes that's dangerous
29:37
bradley and you know that and i do work
29:39
i'll be pers
29:40
honestly i worry about you sometimes
29:42
because
29:43
i just um what you've done is fantastic
29:46
and 104 million which sounds huge
29:49
if you really look at what you've done
29:52
positively that's a drop in the bucket
29:54
of what you should have been paid
29:56
uh precisely that's a joke considering
30:00
the taxes you know that last count was
30:02
over 25
30:03
billion that they've recollected and
30:05
then the money coming over getting taxed
30:07
again
30:07
and changing the industry for the good
30:09
but getting back to my
30:11
the question asked about so if it's not
30:12
happening in switzerland
30:14
where is it happening how or is there a
30:17
place that's happening
30:18
it is happening stan and i think the
30:20
problem is this is look
30:22
there'll always be some sort of shady
30:24
business going on where envelopes under
30:26
tables and this kind of nonsense
30:27
sure black money as they call it um and
30:30
there's a great story about the black
30:31
money which i'll tell you and your
30:32
audience
30:33
is a true story it's fantastic where the
30:35
turn black money comes from but
30:37
remember if you're a wealthy person and
30:39
you want to hide money from a spouse
30:41
from the business partner from the tax
30:42
man
30:43
you want to go to a politically stable
30:45
economically stable environment
30:47
switzerland was that it's no longer i
30:50
mean it's still politically and
30:51
economically stable but you can't have
30:52
numbered accounts you can't have any of
30:54
edi companies
30:55
none of them so where do you go do you
30:57
go to singapore
30:58
yeah they're they're cracking down there
31:00
as well um you're going to go to an
31:02
eastern european country and trust the
31:04
bank there
31:06
really with your 5 million 10 million 20
31:08
million
31:09
and you wake up one morning and it's
31:10
gone so
31:12
the problem is finding a location that
31:15
you feel that is politically and
31:16
economically stable plus that it'll be
31:18
there tomorrow and you have someone
31:20
who's fairly sophisticated who can
31:21
handle it
31:22
but again now the problem was in
31:23
switzerland it was the cash society you
31:25
could literally come in and pick up a
31:26
suitcase full of a million dollars in
31:28
cash and walk out the door
31:29
no questions asked those days are over
31:32
so even if you had your money in abc
31:35
country
31:36
how do you get access to it but does
31:39
that's the problem doesn't the current
31:41
cryptocurrency
31:44
category start eating in and creating
31:47
another opportunity for this type of
31:49
fraud
31:50
even though it's blockchain i mean we've
31:52
i've done podcasts on the blockchain
31:54
technology etc but
31:55
it seems to me cryptocurrency is the new
31:58
switzerland
31:59
am i right well look what's happened
32:01
just recently don't
32:02
you're correct look at the the um the
32:04
meat packing um company that got
32:06
extorted
32:07
to three million dollars and they paid
32:09
the cryptocurrencies
32:10
the doj was furious i mean but you know
32:13
it's hey if you guys can stop this from
32:15
happening maybe people wouldn't have to
32:16
pay cryptocurrency
32:17
through uh broads and extortion or
32:19
extortion in that matter
32:21
but here's the other problem is that you
32:23
have all of these different things where
32:25
in which this this age of well if it's
32:29
not transparent then it's got to be
32:30
illegal
32:31
well people pay cash people do all kinds
32:34
of
32:34
nefarious things and the problem is
32:37
you've allowed these banks to perpetuate
32:39
this for years
32:40
and you've never punished them i call it
32:42
political prostitution
32:44
you and i go rob wells fargo in miami we
32:47
steal 10 million dollars we get caught
32:49
and we say we're sorry we give back
32:50
eight we keep one each and we don't go
32:52
to jail
32:53
well that's essentially what the banks
32:55
have been doing they just write a check
32:58
now think they made more profit on the
33:00
illegal business than
33:01
the fine so why would you stop
33:05
you're setting a awful precedent and
33:07
there's no deterrent
33:09
that's where eric holder and the doj are
33:12
dead wrong
33:13
they should be indicted for not doing
33:14
their job and as well as on the
33:16
republican side
33:17
they're wrong as well these banks have
33:19
to be held to temple
33:21
i trust me you put a ceo in jail for two
33:23
years
33:24
this illegal business ends immediately
33:27
put them in put them in a real jail
33:28
right
33:29
yeah well a wheelchair and how about
33:31
find them properly
33:33
i just gave this scenario where you and
33:34
i rob wells fargo i mean
33:36
i do that business with you all day
33:38
never go to jail yeah we're sorry
33:40
and give back something keep a million
33:41
each in essence look at all these banks
33:44
the goldman sachs the citibanks
33:46
countrywides all of them did this not
33:48
just auctioneering
33:49
securities lie more fixing foreign
33:52
exchange rigging
33:53
offshore banking sure you don't you
33:56
don't assess a proper crime
33:58
a penalty to the crime so they're gonna
34:00
keep doing it it's like a charge that
34:02
says oh don't eat candy
34:03
you can't say okay keep eating candy
34:05
what there's no oversight there's no
34:07
penalty
34:09
so in a perfect world where stanley
34:10
nudieman's president and i
34:12
appoint bradley birkenfeld as the czar
34:15
of
34:16
to prevent fraud what do you do
34:20
first thing i do is i put together a
34:22
team of whistleblowers financial
34:23
whistleblowers
34:24
and i send the message out to all the
34:26
banks all the accounting firms
34:28
all the law firms and say um new rodeo
34:32
in town the rules have changed
34:35
if you break the law not only are we
34:37
going to come and really destroy you
34:39
like with arthur anderson and and enron
34:42
i understand they went a little bit far
34:43
but well you know you were breaking the
34:45
law how about that
34:46
and you come in and you're going to say
34:48
that the rules have changed the rules
34:49
have changed why
34:50
because the taxpayers are fed up with
34:52
this nonsense number one
34:54
number two you're setting a bad
34:55
precedence and no deterrent
34:57
and we are going to eradicate this so
34:59
that the next generation doesn't think
35:01
it's okay to do that
35:03
and a a real uh financial team of
35:06
whistleblowers who have no
35:08
vested interest in all these companies
35:10
and can never work for
35:11
any of these companies ever must come in
35:14
and do the right job
35:16
and we're gonna we're gonna be harsh
35:17
we're gonna hold press conferences we're
35:19
gonna say
35:19
we're gonna name names and do it right
35:22
rather than these little secret
35:23
non-prosecution deals and it's
35:25
backroom deals this is what this is the
35:27
problem they've been doing it for so
35:29
long it's it's it's
35:30
customary it's just oh this is the way
35:31
we do business is it doable politically
35:34
i mean in a perfect world if you had
35:36
that
35:37
seat in dc and you're and you you know
35:40
you're the
35:41
czar of fraud prevention is it doable or
35:44
is it or is it
35:46
is it just a pipe dream well the problem
35:48
is the politicians don't want it and i'm
35:50
talking about career politicians and
35:52
you know i you know some people like
35:54
trump some people hate trump some people
35:55
hate biden some people
35:57
okay whatever i don't care about that
35:59
what i care about is
36:00
getting rid of the career politicians
36:02
who have been there too long because
36:04
their buddies up on the hill
36:06
or someone's over a doj or someone's
36:08
over at cia
36:09
no i don't care well
36:13
do you do you stop at green lights and
36:15
go through red lights
36:16
no you don't because the law says you
36:17
stop it red and you go through green
36:19
so why do these guys think they can
36:21
break the law so that's where we have to
36:23
change the whole mindset
36:24
and you've got to come in with a whole
36:26
new group a fresh group of people
36:28
people like a harry marcopolis a friend
36:30
of mine who were toes
36:31
made off sharon watkins and exposed
36:34
enron another great whistleblower
36:35
and so on and so forth why because this
36:38
not only cleans up
36:40
the crime element in our society whether
36:42
it's in the military
36:43
financial pharmaceutical construction
36:46
it's everywhere then the taxpayer says
36:49
wow you're actually doing something to
36:51
clean up this mess because we're paying
36:52
higher prices
36:54
for this corruption and that's where if
36:57
someone gave you the mandate
36:58
like a a president would have to do it
37:00
most likely a cabinet post
37:03
it's it's needed it's needed so much
37:05
because the most successful law in
37:07
america
37:08
you can go check it your audience can
37:09
check it is senator grassley's
37:11
whistleblowing law has brought more
37:13
money back to the u.s treasury
37:14
than all laws combined
37:17
so you eradicate the crime you bring
37:20
money back from the crime and remember
37:22
i got paid from the crime not from the
37:24
taxpayer
37:25
so the taxpayer is actually benefiting
37:27
because they're paying me pennies on the
37:29
dollar from the crime
37:30
i exposed and the rest of it comes back
37:32
to the government
37:34
i mean you should have 100 brad
37:36
berkenfields but does it
37:38
but does that work and i'm just talking
37:40
out loud because
37:41
our listeners are and viewers are saying
37:43
wait a minute this is the
37:45
instinctively we all kind of know that
37:47
this is happening but to hear it from
37:49
the person that was the originator of it
37:51
that is continuing you know it's it's a
37:54
it's a little disturbing
37:56
obviously and my thing now is okay
37:59
let's just say that we could do that a
38:01
whistle blow and all that stuff
38:03
if the media is not telling the truth
38:05
then it's a complete mess
38:07
right well that's the another component
38:10
of it if you don't communicate it
38:12
effectively to the audience and your
38:13
audience is not just these podcasts it's
38:15
on television on radio in newspaper
38:17
magazines and so forth
38:19
so you need a concerted effort where
38:21
you're going to say
38:22
why are we doing what we're doing well
38:23
we're doing it for this the taxpayers
38:25
are fed up
38:26
we're eradicating crimes and corruption
38:29
we're
38:29
getting the money back into the system
38:31
and we're sending a message
38:33
and if you don't like it get out of the
38:35
way or we're going to run you over
38:36
and that hey this is this is big boy
38:39
stuff now this is not like oh geez don't
38:40
hurt us
38:41
aliens and this and that no this is
38:43
about
38:44
the reality of life and there's too much
38:46
corruption in our system
38:47
in system like i sold you like the
38:49
pharmaceutical finance construction
38:51
how about the military oh there's no
38:53
corruption there right we're paying 50
38:55
million for a plane
38:56
i mean there's there's no wiggle room
38:58
there to negotiate those prices
38:59
i mean the whole thing's a mess so i
39:02
think the taxpayer is getting fed up
39:03
really fed up and look everyone has
39:06
their palms breathed somewhere like you
39:07
oh my cousin works for boeing
39:09
or raytheon sure i understand that that
39:11
doesn't mean you have to be
39:13
gouging us and ripping the american
39:15
taxpayer off
39:17
and then if you come back to my story
39:19
about finance
39:20
this is not just about the us and
39:22
switzerland and ubs
39:24
ubs was doing this around the world
39:26
tokyo
39:27
australia south africa argentina
39:31
then what does it get into it gets into
39:33
the real bigger issue of okay whether
39:35
you
39:35
cheat on taxes or hide it from your wife
39:37
or your business partner that's okay
39:38
that's one thing
39:38
and that's not good but okay but what
39:40
about dictators like
39:42
arafat's got his money in geneva so did
39:44
marcos ebuto
39:46
and all these clowns but the us the us
39:49
is the largest offshore center in the
39:51
world today
39:53
why because they turned a blind eye to
39:56
all these offshore companies who have
39:57
money
39:58
you don't want to take my word for it go
40:00
to the new york times who talks about
40:02
joe biden's delaware
40:03
delaware has a nightmare you've got more
40:05
convicts putting
40:07
money there and they've done nothing so
40:09
what essentially the u.s government has
40:11
said is
40:12
we're going to whack you switzerland and
40:13
we'll make an example of birkenfeld
40:16
okay fine whatever i know you're wrong
40:17
and i'm right but that's another of them
40:19
secondly you now open the doors to all
40:22
these nefarious
40:24
acts and i and i can trust you bloomberg
40:27
did an article on this about saying
40:29
the greatest offshore tax haven is
40:31
america now north and south dakota
40:33
you've got delaware you've got nevada
40:36
why are all these places being able to
40:38
hide money for all these
40:40
really bad people i mean foreigners like
40:42
ukrainians and russians and
40:44
south americans all that's right the
40:47
banks make money the accounts make money
40:49
the lawyers make money the trustees make
40:51
money the politicians make money
40:54
and there you go and joe biden's
40:56
delaware is a perfect example has he
40:57
done anything to fix delaware
40:59
no nothing no there's a 12 page yeah
41:02
there is a
41:03
there was a 12-page article on the
41:05
internet about
41:07
during his president during his camp
41:09
during his vice presidency
41:11
talking about how delaware is one of the
41:12
most corrupt states in the nation
41:15
for this offshore business this is
41:17
what's troubling
41:18
why wouldn't he do anything because
41:19
those people are paying his campaign
41:22
right and so on and so forth so that's
41:24
where you need someone like me
41:26
and a group of people like me and a
41:28
dedicated group of people who have no
41:29
vested interest
41:30
except to expose these people and make
41:33
sure that the
41:34
justice is served not not favors passed
41:38
out which we've seen time and time again
41:40
now are you helping current
41:41
whistleblowers i mean are you advising
41:43
people i think you are
41:45
uh and i'm assuming that's all
41:47
confidential as well as it should be
41:49
but do you see people coming to you for
41:52
advice
41:54
sitting at the foot of the master and
41:56
the originator
41:57
um and are you are you encouraged by
42:00
that are you discouraged by
42:02
by the lower the low number of them
42:05
what's going on
42:06
um whistleblowing has taken on a whole
42:09
new development i just was
42:10
in romania helping them write the law
42:12
there with my attorneys in washington
42:14
to help them pass legislation but you
42:16
still have the vestiges of the communist
42:18
mentality like i'm snitching on my
42:20
neighbor and this kind of thing
42:22
no no but you gotta come to the 21st
42:25
century now wake up
42:26
and so that was very important for me
42:28
and the eu directive on whistleblowing
42:30
and it's on my website
42:31
it's a 16-page document that my attorney
42:33
and i sent to the eu
42:35
they never responded what a surprise so
42:38
by the
42:38
end of this year all the countries have
42:40
to pass their whistleblowing initiative
42:42
on eu director
42:44
so i do help um governments i've
42:46
testified
42:48
in the greek embassy in washington d.c
42:50
helped the greek government
42:51
i helped the indian government i've
42:53
helped the german government the
42:54
norwegian government and so forth
42:57
and and then i help individual
42:58
whistleblowers because they're the ones
42:59
who are most fragile and volatile why
43:02
because what people do generally is they
43:04
attack the whistleblower
43:05
jeff staley the ceo of barclays tried to
43:08
uncover a whistleblower
43:10
twice got caught at it got fined i think
43:13
half a million pounds and i wrote a
43:15
i i got interviewed by bloomberg and i
43:16
said no you should be fired immediately
43:19
and the fact that the board kept him
43:21
shows that the board should be fired
43:23
immediately why you're condoning bad
43:26
behavior
43:27
and he was saying well we don't think we
43:28
should be paying we'll support a lot of
43:30
money
43:31
it's not a question of paying them the
43:32
money it's a question of
43:34
right or wrong if we expose you doing
43:37
wrong things
43:38
you have no say in what's going to be
43:40
paid to the whistleblower
43:42
let the legislators figure that out and
43:44
what's happened as i said before the
43:46
whistleblowing awards come from
43:48
when they expose so i have friends who
43:50
have exposed
43:51
i was with the whistleblowers in greece
43:53
who exposed novartis
43:55
they were selling drugs illegally
43:57
foreign corrupt practices act
43:59
boom 540 million very proud of that one
44:02
but the attache at the u.s embassy
44:05
fbi agent was interfering in this so i
44:08
sent my book to him
44:09
i read about it my book i said you know
44:12
that's a crime
44:12
to do this he said well i didn't get
44:14
your book i said well
44:16
if you're not at the embassy i didn't
44:17
get the book how would you know you
44:18
didn't get my book
44:19
i just had it couriered over there
44:21
you're a liar
44:22
yeah so this guy the attention at u.s
44:26
embassy in athens
44:27
was interfering on the noble discus why
44:29
the attorneys representing the
44:30
whistleblowers i met with confidentially
44:32
they were telling us hey we need your
44:33
help i said leave it at me i'd be happy
44:35
to call the guy
44:36
give me his phone number and i called
44:38
him and i said to my book over the
44:39
embassy
44:41
i didn't like that he's probably tapping
44:42
my phone tap my phone you should have a
44:44
new car
44:44
your new card should read global cleanup
44:47
specialist
44:48
right we clean houses like the mafia
44:53
hey one one last segment with you and i
44:55
this is i really want your opinion on it
44:57
no one has the perfect answer but
44:59
um i believe that cryptocurrency
45:02
obviously is not going away blockchain's
45:03
not going away
45:04
but i do believe having worked for the
45:06
large banks like you have
45:08
you know i work for morgan stanley and
45:09
ubs paying wherever dean witter and all
45:11
that stuff
45:12
not not at the highest levels like you
45:14
did but
45:16
it's hard for me to believe that the
45:18
banks aren't going to
45:19
create their own and and control it with
45:23
governments
45:24
and tell these other people that are
45:26
creating them that oh by the way that's
45:28
not worth anything and we don't
45:29
recognize it and just wipe it off the
45:30
board that's my
45:32
conspiracy theorist glass half empty
45:35
pessimistic realist approach what do you
45:38
think's going to happen
45:39
because it's early in the game for
45:41
crypto where do you think it's
45:43
headed i think it's not a conspiracy
45:46
theory i think
45:47
your experience and your background
45:49
serves you well
45:50
um and the other thing you have to ask
45:53
yourself is let's just take
45:55
deviate slightly and take medical
45:57
marijuana
45:58
all the pharmaceutical companies said ah
46:00
this is crap oh no
46:01
this is [ __ ] it's against the law we
46:03
don't want it so you have medicinal
46:05
recreational okay whatever whether you
46:07
like it or not that's not the point
46:08
the point was this people started
46:10
growing these farms and then all of a
46:11
sudden the laws started to change and
46:13
that pharmaceutical said [ __ ] we're
46:15
missing the boat here
46:16
so what did they do started coming in
46:18
and buying it it's the same with crypto
46:21
that's a great correlation by the way
46:23
great right
46:25
that analogy is ideal because it shows
46:27
that they pooh-pooh it
46:29
then the young entrepreneurs make it and
46:32
then they buy them out okay you buy out
46:34
you sell out you made your money or
46:35
whatever
46:36
but then crypto's the same they poo and
46:38
poo
46:39
in it some people don't understand it
46:41
they think it's weird
46:42
okay it's unusual fine but it's exactly
46:45
the same because what they're saying is
46:47
we want to control it and then they'll
46:49
work with the governments
46:50
why do you think on medical marijuana
46:52
that pharmaceuticals are pushing
46:54
pushing pushing so that this is across
46:56
the board and then oh geez your health
46:58
insurance and life insurance
46:59
will pay for it oh [ __ ] forget it this
47:02
is off the chart
47:03
billions for a drug and billions
47:07
for a cryptocurrency so you do believe
47:10
that i mean the united states
47:12
government's not just going to watch
47:13
this
47:14
oh no you're going to make their money
47:17
they're going to they're going to either
47:18
create somewhere
47:19
they're going to create what i call u.s
47:21
coin or patriot coin or something and
47:23
then all
47:24
of the banks will be in cahoots with
47:26
them and i said before that
47:28
blockchain is going to allow them to tax
47:30
daily forget april 15th
47:34
they'll be able to to tax it and i think
47:36
that's really
47:37
going to be the um impetus for the
47:39
government to get involved
47:40
but they're certainly not going to watch
47:42
a private company
47:43
um name the cryptocurrency company that
47:46
you like
47:48
and get and and just grow and grow and
47:49
grow and grow this is i mean and it's
47:51
it's similar it's similar with the
47:53
offshore i remember when they had the
47:54
banking i knew calvin air the very
47:56
famous guy from bulldog
47:57
very interesting guy u.s government
47:59
hated him he was offshore
48:00
he kept thumbing his nose at him and he
48:02
was making millions now
48:04
people are gonna gamble whether you
48:06
gamble in your office for a football
48:08
pool you go to vegas and gamble or you
48:09
go buy a stupid lottery ticket down the
48:11
street
48:12
it's gambling but if they can't control
48:14
it get their cut
48:15
you're exactly right stan they're gonna
48:17
come in and whack you
48:19
and that's where it's from marijuana to
48:21
gambling
48:22
to crypto there it is those are the
48:25
three examples right there
48:26
perfect examples yeah i'm waiting for
48:29
the press conference where the
48:30
government and u.s
48:31
treasury comes out and says you know
48:33
we're introducing the u.s
48:35
coin or patriot coin or whatever they
48:36
want to call it and all of these other
48:38
ones we really appreciate it but at this
48:40
point we're not going to recognize you
48:42
now i know the crypto people say you
48:44
know stan you know that
48:46
this is going to happen but i just want
48:48
you to think i want people and our
48:49
listeners to think about if that happens
48:51
and it probably will
48:52
what happens to the valuations of some
48:54
of these companies
48:56
it's really scary that's very scary
48:59
because
49:00
it's it's like an accounting uh problem
49:02
with the euro when the euro came into
49:04
effect
49:04
correct how do you value assets how do
49:06
you
49:07
value oh so you lower the liabilities
49:10
and increase the assets i mean how does
49:12
that work when one currency goes to
49:13
another
49:14
and you superimpose a fixed exchange
49:16
rate
49:17
this is very dangerous extremely and
49:19
then you've got things such as
49:21
um annuities and pensions sure how'd
49:23
that affect them i mean this is good
49:25
this is crazy
49:27
i agree let's talk about your book a
49:29
little bit in the last segment um before
49:31
we have to let you go and enjoy
49:32
malta for goodness sakes i'm holding up
49:35
the book for the for the viewers on
49:37
on the pot on the fun with annuities
49:39
podcast youtube channel
49:42
and it's called lucifer's banker
49:45
lucifersbanker.com you can buy it on
49:47
amazon you'll get it the next day
49:48
and you'll never put it down i find i
49:51
found fascinating while i'm reading the
49:53
book and i really appreciate you putting
49:54
some pictures inside of it
49:56
not because i'm an ex-athlete that likes
49:58
to look at pictures
49:59
and not read but um it kind of told the
50:03
story
50:04
visually which i really um i really
50:08
appreciated
50:09
you know the just every every little
50:10
picture was fun
50:12
and the one with mel gibson and kevin
50:14
costner maybe you can close with uh
50:16
with a little story about our friend
50:18
kevin costner and he wasn't
50:20
he wasn't dancing with wolves he was
50:22
dancing with money right
50:23
oh yeah he was he was eliot ness with
50:26
the untouchables yeah
50:27
mr taxman yeah look and i've said this
50:30
to the doj i've sent
50:32
the irs they sent the u.s senate i sent
50:34
it to the sec
50:35
and i gave them a list of names one of
50:37
them was kevin costner had 20 million
50:39
plus
50:40
offshore undeclared money fact i'm suing
50:42
him now in the state of florida by the
50:44
way
50:44
um the case got thrown out because they
50:47
said it wasn't the jurisdiction but i
50:49
lived in miami when i launched the book
50:51
and they
50:52
threatened me with letters so we're
50:53
appealing that right now
50:55
kevin carson we're appealing him um
50:57
there were people like leonard lauder
50:59
estee lauder was my account when she
51:00
died i had her death certificate
51:03
i guess we should call them estee fraud
51:05
because they've been
51:07
all the american people very nice and
51:10
the f
51:10
and the son leonard waters of fraud he
51:12
had an account with my boss
51:14
and and the court in florida threw his
51:16
case out just last week
51:17
where they said jurisdictions not
51:18
florida should be new york i said no
51:20
you're wrong i mean the court said a
51:23
disaster anyways
51:24
what i did was um my boss managed kevin
51:27
carson's account and i used to handle
51:29
his currency allocation
51:31
so for kevin costner to say that he
51:33
didn't have an offshore account his
51:34
lawyers spewing all this nonsense
51:36
i put a sworn affidavit in place i went
51:39
to the doj irs
51:40
sec u.s senate and gave his name so you
51:42
should be indicting me for my deal
51:45
but the real question is to the american
51:47
people in your audience
51:48
why wasn't he indicted you're not
51:51
allowed to come in the offshore
51:52
voluntary disclosure program if they
51:54
already had your name which i gave his
51:56
name way back in 2007.
51:59
so what gives bradley i want
52:02
he can't play the lead role in your
52:04
movie obviously so he's off the board
52:06
but i i do want you to have
52:08
this movie done because i want you to
52:10
they have to invite you to the hollywood
52:12
parties
52:13
i want that exactly i want you to be
52:15
there i want you to be with all these
52:17
people that you've
52:18
that that really i guess don't like the
52:21
truth right or don't like the truth
52:23
exposed about
52:24
them um and they put on this facade of
52:27
i'm a good person perfect person um
52:31
kind of as a as as to close this out for
52:34
the listeners who are
52:35
just typical and i'm sure americans and
52:38
i'm sure we have some listeners overseas
52:40
as well
52:41
um what do you tell them i mean this
52:44
this is i mean
52:46
this is earth-shattering stuff and it's
52:48
a little unnerving
52:49
to know the truth even though in the
52:50
back your mind you know these things are
52:52
happening
52:53
what would you tell the people is there
52:55
hope or is this just going to continue
52:57
this type of fraud
52:59
whistleblowing program is a very good
53:01
program and it should be supported
53:02
that's number one that's how we're going
53:03
to get the truth out there
53:05
um you're going to get from a to z from
53:07
someone not just little cherry picking
53:09
no that whistleblower will give you it
53:10
all why because they have a vested
53:12
interest to come forward and tell it all
53:14
and not to play games that's the first
53:16
thing the second thing is
53:17
the government is corrupt the us
53:18
government is highly corrupt
53:20
you can't trust the doj or the fbi and
53:22
the cia you really can't
53:24
everything from whether they're spying
53:25
that's snowed and exposed
53:27
i met with julian assange twice at the
53:29
ecuadorian embassy in london and he gave
53:31
me a wealth of information about hillary
53:33
clinton and barack obama
53:34
i mean these people are evil they're
53:36
very evil whether you like or hate him
53:38
is another issue
53:40
but the very fact of the matter is is
53:41
that the system that we base ourselves
53:43
on what we believe in
53:45
is is rotten at the core and i said it
53:48
candidly and i can give facts to it so
53:50
i think what people need to understand
53:52
is support whistleblowers
53:54
don't believe everything the government
53:56
tells you because it's not true
53:58
and we need more transparency and
54:00
accountability
54:01
in our lives so that we can feel like
54:04
we're not being cheated
54:05
whether you're buying your condo or a
54:07
car or a business or whatever it might
54:09
be
54:10
and that is really the essence of this
54:12
and i think my book i get into it quite
54:14
heavily and for instance i exposed
54:18
the first client i gave them was a um a
54:21
gentleman who was doing illegal oil
54:22
sales with saddam hussein
54:25
but because he was connected politically
54:27
they said we're not interested in
54:28
non-americans and i said well if you're
54:30
not interested
54:31
were you interested in the non-americans
54:32
that flew the planes into the world
54:34
trade center they were not americans
54:36
so i always got to fight with them i
54:37
mean it's it's it's nerve-wracking
54:40
because it upsets you when you have the
54:42
facts and the truth
54:43
and you know it and they do nothing
54:45
about it
54:47
yeah and it's both republicans and
54:48
democrats i don't care where you where
54:50
where you land politically don't be
54:53
fooled
54:54
um it's happening if it's big money it's
54:56
happening
54:57
um but i i think this has been
54:59
fascinating bradley i certainly want you
55:01
back and i'd like to have you back
55:03
after the crypto stuff starts settling
55:05
and we start seeing some moves being
55:07
made by governments
55:08
and i'm sure you're following that but
55:10
but you being who you are
55:12
um and just world-renowned from the
55:14
standpoint of just truth
55:16
and and uncovering the real story um
55:20
i want to know for what you're going to
55:22
talk about when it comes to crypto
55:23
because this is going to be the next one
55:26
it's the it we can call it the next
55:28
switzerland right i don't know if that
55:29
makes sense or not but it might be it's
55:31
the next
55:32
bombshell for people and i and i'm
55:35
assuming
55:35
the rich and the the terrorists and
55:37
they're using it for nefarious ways just
55:39
like
55:40
they were using swiss bank accounts as
55:42
well well this is it and i i'd love to
55:44
come down to florida in person to do it
55:46
after
55:47
after say maybe in the fourth quarter
55:49
why we're gonna have to crypto we'll
55:50
have some things developing there
55:52
right certainly we're gonna have the
55:53
verdict in paris trial that'll come out
55:55
in september so we could talk about that
55:57
but
55:57
that's interesting because that that
55:59
shows the disparity between how the
56:00
franchise did the americans in finding
56:02
ubs
56:04
and again remember your audience has to
56:06
look at this from the global standpoint
56:08
of offshore banking what it has changed
56:10
in the world to become more transparent
56:13
and accountable
56:14
but coming back to the other issue of
56:15
cryptocurrency gaming
56:17
and marijuana the government wants to
56:19
get their hands in
56:20
very good that's a good way to close it
56:22
out remember everybody
56:24
lucifersbanker.com go to amazon.com you
56:27
pull up lucifer's banker
56:29
or you can pull up bradley birkenfell
56:32

56:46
you know bradley i really appreciate you
56:48
being with us and um
56:50
any last words before i close this out i
56:53
would just tell people
56:54
look at what's going on in the world
56:56
today in the offshore world
56:58
everybody wants to pay zero tax that's
56:59
not the way the world works so
57:01
let's just pay our fair share not an
57:03
extreme amount but a fair share
57:05
all live together in harmony and make it
57:08
work
57:08
and let's clean up society i i love it
57:11
