How does an annuity work inside of an IRA?
It’s a common misbelief that an annuity should never been put inside of an IRA. Not only is that incorrect, it’s an uneducated emotional conclusion that isn’t based in fact. Not only can an annuity be a positive addition to an IRA, but the Department of the Treasury and the IRS just approved the use of Longevity Annuities (aka: Deferred Income Annuities) in both 401k’s and IRAs. Those specific products are call Qualified Longevity Annuity Contracts (QLACs). Even though I rest my case on the validity of annuities within qualified accounts, it’s important to take a closer look at how to use an annuity in your IRA or 401k.
